School mini album

There is to be ribbon attached to the tag on the front of the book.

This cute little album is being taught in a class by Kathryn on the 27th of February. This 6" by 6" album is a lovely way to record a child's school year. The sample is in store if you wish to view it.

Congratulations to Sharon for winning our birthday raffle yesterday. I'm sure she will have hours of fun with this basket load of goodies.

Scrappin' with Sue

This is Wednesday nights layout. I have done a Christmas page but you are able to chose any two double sided coordinating papers from the kaiser range to suit your theme providing the title can be kept to a three letter word, we could maybe squeeze in four but definatley no more. For this class you will need your basic kit plus a brown distress ink. The image may be clicked on to make it larger.

New stock

A quick note to let you know of some of the new products from Kaisercraft. There is a gorgoeus new bling range with words such as love, cute and cherish, amoungst many others, in both pink and silver. There is also new decorative brads, with a set to coordinate with every one of their new paper ranges, 27 so far. My favourite of all the gorgeous new products would have to be the black and white rubon range, these are stunning with 30 different sets to choose from. Some of these also coordinate with the papers. Unfortunately the computer is not letting me post images at the moment but as soon as it does I will put some pictures up.

New stock for December

New stock in for this month include the gorgeous new range of rub-ons from kaisercraft. At only $2.00 per packet and with 20 different designs to choose from I'm sure you'll find the perfect one for your next project. We also have new and restocked stamps from hero arts. Amongst the many other things new in the store we have green and red stazon ink, great for those last minute Christmas cards, sweet little Heidi Swapp jewel flowers and the cutest little felt flowers from junkitz.

Don't forget that we also do gift vouchers, a great Christmas present for the crafty person in your life.

Photo file box

This cute little file box is not only useful for your photos but would also be ideal to file away stickers, rub-ons etc or those dreaded bills. You get to choose the colours from the pattern paper available at the store. As this project will be getting a lot of use we recommend supertape as the cheaper versions do not hold well enough.

This cute little mini album would be a way to show off photos of the special miss in your life, or even to display photos of yourself. You will need to bring along 4 to 5 wallet sized photos or larger photos that are sutaible for cropping. You will also need your basic tool kit

Whoops, the ribbons again


Just a little taste of some of the new stock we have had in lately, gorgeous colours ranging from bright gelatis through to soft lattes and browns in products such as ribbons, flowers, buttons and cardstock.

Scrapbook organiser

For this class you will need your usual scrapbooking kit and some strong liquid adhesive such as pritt power glue stick, pritt power gel or scrapbookers glue. On the example shown here I have not pushed out the holes in the front right hand side for ribbon as I want to use this for storage of small items such as pencil sharpeners, erasers etc. this is totally optional. You can also choose your own colours out of the new kaiser range of papers.

The J for Josh fundraiser held last Friday night was a great success with everyone having an enjoyable time and plenty of yummy food. Kathryn's games and brainteasers kept the night flowing nicely with plenty of gigges and prizes in between. All the money raised went to help send young Josh to the States for an intensive program to assist him and his family with his autism. Thanks to all those who helped with food and preparation. Any one who wants more information on Josh and his journey can pop into the store.

Recipe book.

This is not only a lovely little decorative piece to have in your kitchen but it is also highly functional. It will fit up to 20 of your favourite recipes and would make a wonderful heirloom to pass down. You may copy Tanya' colour scheme or choose your own papers to fit your kitchen decor.

Scrap a doodle dandy

Aren't these just the cutest little pink books? Tired of having pieces of paper everywhere with layout ideas sketched on them, then this book is for you? It has a grid area to sketch your layout in with a lined section at the bottom of the page to jot notes about paper, embellishments etc. Best of all they are small enough to fit into your handbag or pocket so where ever you go you can record your ideas when the inspiration hits.

Simply stylish scrapbooking

This layout can be done as a double page or can easily be adapted to two separate layouts. You can use a few different combinations of photos, they are; a) 6 portrait/vertical style 6" by 4" photos(this is the standard size the photography store print) b) 4 standard sized photos with 1 5" by 7" horizontal/landscape enlargement(pictured) c) 2 standard size vertical photos with two 5" by 7" enlargements(horizontal) d) 4 horizontal 6" by 4" photos e) two horizontal and 3 vertical photos, standard size. If you have photos that don't fit any of these combinations still bring them in and we can try to work out how to fit them in. You can choose your own cardstock colours to match your photos.

Equipment required, standard kit, distress ink, fine black pen, craft knife and cutting mat. We will be using paints so either old clothes or an apron would be a good idea, we do have a couple here you can borrow if needed.

A few new arrivals

Over the last week we have had arrivals from stamp-it and Aussiescrapsouce. These include items such as some of the beautiful crate paper rubons and papers, any one who has used these know of the high quality and beautiful colours, we also have new chipboard letter including a gorgeous sparkly set with more styles due to arrive with in the next week. Our most exciting arrival is of course some of the new stamps from the stampit artoligy range and the 2007 hero arts designs, these are already moving off the shelf so get in quick if you are interested.
Coming soon are several new and updated rubons, some gorgeous paper flowers, these are great as they can be painted, inked, stamped on etc to get just the effect you want and we have our rep coming in from bumblebee crafts Monday so hopefully he will have some delicious new products to show us, I'll keep you updated as they come in.

Lay-by terms, fees and conditions

We happily except lay-bys, the following are our terms

.Minimum 10% deposit at time of setting the lay-by up (with the exception of preordered items, see below)
.Payments to be made monthly
.the term of the lay-by is 3 months (if you are unable to pick the lay-by up within this time frame please contact us for an extension otherwise after a four month period the items will be returned to the shelf with no refund, (we will make every attempt to contact you before this happens )
.Preordered items may be lay-byed but a minimum 40% deposit must be made at the time of lay-by setup.

Photo tip-catchlights and focus points.

If you want to bring more oomph into your portrait shots try getting catchlights. This is the reflection of light in the eyes that makes them appear alive. Many artists use catchlights in there portraits to give life to their painting, next time you look at a portrait check out the eyes for catchlights. They can be created using daylight/natural light either directly into the eye or reflected off surfaces such as snow, water, photographers reflectors etc. It can also come from off camera flashes and other manmade lighting sources. I personally like natural light best. A marble is one of the easiest ways of detecting the position to get your best catchlights, make a fist and pop the marble into the little groove in your pointer finger, now simply move your hand and marble around until you get a good reflection, at around the positions, not the time, of 2 or 10 O'clock are best, but any position were you get reflections, are fine. Now that you have the right direction place your model here and take your photo. Whenever shooting people, with the odd exception, always focus on the eyes. If you have an slr type camera you can generally do this by changing your focus points on board the camera or focusing manually. With a point and shoot type camera you can use your central focus. To do this position the little red dot in the centre of your camera on the eyes, half depress your shutter release button to lock it on this position, holding it half way down, then reframe your photo as you wish and fully depress the shutter. This will make sure the eyes are nice and crisp. You can also use this method to get different effects as I did for the photo of S. below holding out the lolly pop. Using a shallow Depth Of Field or the portrait setting on your camera put the focus on the object you want sharp and depending on the capabilities of your camera the other object on different plains should blur either slightly or a lot depending on you settings.

Calendar tin

This practical little off the page project is ideal for use as a birthday/anniversary book or could even be used as a diary. It can be made in a choice of 3 colours, it would be a good idea to pick out your papers when you book in.

Class requirements- distress ink, glue stick, some really strong adhesive for the ribbon, buttons etc such as pritt power glue and your basic kit.
