Paper bag album

Not just for lunches paper bags can used for many different things including this little album.

There will be a choice of blue 'friends' themed paper (shown here) or pink girly themed papers with words such as me, artist, sensitive, hip,dreamer,energetic etc

Class requirements-basic kit, distress or brown ink and six or more small photo measuring no more than 8cm at their widest point that relate to the above themes(these can be added at a later date)

Recreate this gorgeous layout using the coluzzle tool and the newest papers from Scrapbooking Australia.

Class requirements-basic kit(don't forget to include your scissors, you will need a small sharp pair) and a distress or brown ink.

Photography tip for March-light

The word photography comes form the Latin words meaning to paint with light.
Light is the single most influential thing when taking photographs, whether it be too much light or not enough. The best photographs are the ones taken in even diffused light. Try to avoid bright sunlight if possible, it can create harsh shadows, and dappled light as through tree branches can leave 'hot spots' or area which are over exposed. The best light for great color saturation is outdoors on an overcast day, especially just after rain, in the shade of a large building or trees that have even shade or indoors near a large north facing window(you can hang a sheer white curtain over a window to soften the light coming through it) If it is unavoidable to take photos in bright sun try using the fill flash feature that most cameras have these days, it will give a soft burst of light that can even out any harsh shadows, and is particularly good for anyone wearing a hat. Just remember to check your manual for your flashes range, many people get caught out both indoors and out by trying to take a photo farther away than their flash will allow. When photographing indoors again check your flash range, it is no use sitting at the back of a concert hall photographing the stage if your flash only reaches a distance of a few metres, all you will get is dark photos. It is a better idea to turn your flash off and use a tripod if the area is brightly lit enough. Those of you with an SLR can use a faster lens and set your fstop and shutter speed to allow for the low light. Also remember that almost all digital cameras now allow you to set the ISO (the equivalent of film speed) the low numbers eg ISO 100 to 200 are for brightly lit situations whereas your higher numbers eg ISO 800-1600 are for low light situations but you will also get more noise (the same as film grain) at these high speeds but sometimes these are the trade offs for capturing those special memories, this can be made less noticeable using some of the features that come with your photo editing program (generally packaged with your camera). Also adjusting your WB (white balance) will make a huge difference to how the end result will look, check your manual for more information on what settings to use in what situations.

February classes

We will start Febraury's classes off on Wednesday the 7th with this stamping page using stamps from Autumn leaves, paper salon, font works and others. Week two will be cards followed by a tags layout (photos to come). The final wednesday of the month will be the usual scrap'nyap. A more fianlised timetable will be posted over the next few days.

New stock for January

Just arrived in today we have more of the gorgeous new dew drop inks in the yummiest colours ranging from soft gelati style colours such as key lime and pixie pink to warm autumn tones such as cosmic copper and spiced pumpkin. There are also a restock of some of the best selling colors including white, silver and gold. Also after a long wait we finally have the coluzzle starter kits and templates in circles and ovals. One of my favourite items that arrived is the {CREATE} wall words, perfect for your little corner of the world (your scrappin space), these can be decorated in so many ways from being covered in patterned paper, painted, stamped on or even just left plain white and dressed up with a few ribons and flowers, a great way to lay claim to your spot and they are only $15.00 a kit. Our shop one will be up soon so I'll post some pictures. Another great arrival is the chatterbox courtyard kit (lovely, contains enough ribbon, flowers papers, sticker, bling and embellishment for several pages or a small album all for only $20.70). We also have some of the doodle genies from Chatterbox (will be used in an upcoming class so keep your eyes out for that one.) and restocks of the making memories foam stamps in many styles and the new philladelphia set.

January's card class

Two 'just for you' cards (this message can be changed to suit the occasion) 1valentine card and 1 thank you card using various stamping techniques including masking and selective coloring.

Under the sun

O.K. We're back from our enjoyable Christmas break and ready to get back into the swing of things. We hope you enjoyed your Christmas and New year. The first class for the year is 'Under the sun', using the newest papers from ScrapbookingAustralia, chipboard and stamping.

Photo tip for November...

Read your manual. It may not the most thrilling of reads but you can only take better photos knowing all the functions of your camera. It will tell you exactly what your camera is and isn't capable of and you might find yourself really surprised at just what it can do. Even the most basic digital point and shoot usually has a lot of functions such as white balance control that will alter how your photos look. You will also find out things such as your cameras focal length ( how far or close you have to be to an object to get a clear photo) So grab yourself a cuppa and sit down and read all you can.

Altered monograms

We will be creating this page using the gorgeous chatterbox range of papers and two different monograms. We will be using the monograms U and R but the other stamped words are your own choice. The photo size is 5"X7"

Magnetic memories

This Wednesday nights magnetic memories class. Four mini layouts to display on your fridge. These would make a lovely gift for someone this Christmas or to decorate your own fridge with.

New stock due in over the next week...

As I've just mentioned the new papers from Scrapbooking Australia are in store right now. Due in soon is the fun and versatile cropadile with a few different eyelet sets, as well as some updates of stamps from hero arts and a variety of papers ordered from Aussie scrap source including some restocks of basic grey. Another fun competion starting soon is 'the great snap, swap, challenge'. Bring in a copy of your favourite 5 X 7" photograph to exchange anonymously with other members of the swap. Not only do you get your photo scrapped in someone elses style but all entries go into the running to win one of the new cropadiles. All details will be in store soon.
